Nothing says "romance" quite like bonding over J.J. Thomson's cathode ray experiments. These two physics nerds are hitting it off until the bottom panel reveals what they actually love about Thomson - his famous "plum pudding" model of the atom (that circular diagram with electrons embedded in a positive charge) versus his thought experiments involving unconscious violinists (a reference to Thomson's ethics arguments about bodily autonomy).
