Insects really said "you know what, I'm gonna make this everyone else's problem" and evolved to be absolutely terrifying. This meme perfectly captures the insect starter pack: born after the Cretaceous period (check), can't ya know is (grammatically confusing but accurate), imitate leaves like a boss, be microscopic menaces, sip nectar like it's bubble tea, terrorize ALL vertebrates including YOU, get stepped on regularly, be holometabolous (fancy word for "complete metamorphosis" - basically going through that glow-up from larva to adult), and inevitably die in the most anticlimactic ways possible.

The dragonfly with the human size comparison is particularly chef's kiss because prehistoric dragonflies actually WERE that massive with wingspans up to 2.5 feet. Modern insects are smaller partly due to lower oxygen levels, so thank your atmosphere for not having to deal with eagle-sized mosquitoes. You're welcome for that nightmare fuel though! 🦟
