You start with the terrifying Schwarzschild metric (that equation that haunts your dreams), then progress to the gorgeous CGI black hole from Interstellar that makes you feel like you understand something, and finally end up with the blurry Event Horizon Telescope image that resembles a donut with an identity crisis.
