Pokémon Coordinate System: The Ultimate Math Hack

Pokémon Coordinate System: The Ultimate Math Hack
The Pokémon coordinate system strikes again! When math teachers were going on about the x-axis and y-axis, some of us were secretly remembering it by Pokémon logic instead of actual math rules. Yveltal (the red flying one) belongs on the y-axis because it flies up , while Xerneas (the deer) stays on the x-axis because it walks horizontally . Nintendo accidentally created the best coordinate system memory hack ever! Who needs "x is horizontal, y is vertical" when you've got "X walks, Y flies"? Math teachers worldwide are probably facepalming right now.

Finally, a system of equations where catching 'em all actually matters! This is what happens when your math teacher was traumatized by failing to complete their Pokédex in the 90s. From the equations, we get Xerneas + Yveltal + Zygarde = 100 and 15(Xerneas) + 9(Yveltal) + Zygarde = 300. Solving this algebraic Pokémon battle reveals Xerneas = 5, Yveltal = 10, and Zygarde = 85. Turns out legendary Pokémon are just variables with better graphics. And they said you'd never use algebra in real life...

Gotta solve 'em all! This is a classic system of equations disguised as a Pokémon puzzle. Looking at Xerneas, Yveltal, and Zygarde (the Legendary trio from Pokémon X/Y), we've got ourselves a simultaneous equation problem that would make Professor Oak proud. From the first equation: X + Y + Z = 100 From the second: 15X + 9Y + Z = 300 Solving this system (and sparing you the algebraic gymnastics), we get X = 5, Y = 10, and Z = 45. The Kalos legendaries have numerical values that perfectly balance, just like they maintain balance in the Pokémon universe! Next time someone says math isn't useful in the real world, remind them how else would we determine the numerical value of fictional pocket monsters?
