The Vatican's selection committee gets progressively more excited: "A new pope? Fine. From the U.S.? Interesting. WITH A MATH DEGREE?!" Because nothing strikes fear into the hearts of religious institutions quite like someone who can actually calculate the probability of miracles. Next thing you know, they'll be demanding error bars on transubstantiation and confidence intervals for resurrection. The real miracle would be finding someone who remembers how to use calculus after graduation.
