The Statistical Unicorn

The Statistical Unicorn
The perfect statistical outlier doesn't exi-- oh wait, there he is. Top graph shows testosterone decreasing as IQ increases, except for that one superhuman circled in red with both genius-level intelligence AND testosterone levels through the roof. Below, our apparent outlier hero prepares to microwave metal while holding a transformer, because normal physics clearly doesn't apply to him. Natural selection just threw up its hands and said "fine, you can have it all."

The graph shows a negative correlation between testosterone and IQ, but the real gem is that ONE outlier point in the top right corner—high testosterone AND high IQ—circled and labeled as "Guy who answered my question on math stack exchange 9 years ago." That legendary Stack Exchange hero defies biological trends just to explain partial differential equations to desperate students at 3 AM! The hero we needed but didn't deserve. And with an R² value of only 0.19, this correlation is weaker than my willpower around free conference snacks.

The Statistical Love Triangle

The Statistical Love Triangle
The statistical love triangle we never knew we needed! The guy (labeled "MEAN") is clearly distracted by the attractive "OUTLIER" walking by, while his girlfriend (labeled "MEDIAN") looks on in disbelief. It's the perfect visualization of how these statistical measures behave. The mean is easily influenced by extreme values (hello, outliers!), while the median stays reliably unaffected by such statistical flirtations. Data scientists everywhere are nodding knowingly. This is exactly why we use median home prices instead of mean when that one Beverly Hills mansion would skew the entire neighborhood average!
