In enzymatic reactions, competitive inhibitors and enzymes both fight for the substrate's active site—but the enzyme usually wins due to its perfect molecular fit. That substrate is about to experience some serious conformational change tonight while the inhibitor is left wondering why it spent all that energy on binding affinity just to get ghosted. Molecular third-wheeling has never been so awkwardly relatable!
